Meet Laura, Analyst

Meet Laura

My Role

I am working as a management analyst at BearingPoint. One of the best things about working at BearingPoint is having the opportunity to meet and work with so many different people, along with working in a variety of industries. It has been really enjoyable working with a group of driven and like-minded people, who motivate and encourage my career progression. I have worked on a range of projects from digital, strategy and customer management to my present role as project management office (PMO). I am currently working on cloud platform integration programme, focusing on new Digital Ecosystem Management and find it both enjoyable and challenging. Starting as a management analyst has allowed me to work in numerous industries, developing new skills and decide which direction I want to take my future career.

Outside of my project role, I am also a support lead for BearingPoint's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which I find extremely rewarding. This role focuses on supporting a CSR culture throughout the office, engaging employees to make a social positive impact and continually looking for opportunities to increase CSR scope and involvement with external organisations and charities.

Normal Day

One of the best things about consulting is that there is no such thing as a 'normal day'. Every day is different and completely dependent on the project you work on. For me, the best thing about consulting is that every day you face new challenges allowing you to grow and develop your skillset. Currently, a normal day starts with a team meeting to run through status updates and what we plan to achieve that day. This incorporates project planning, finance reviews, resource management and organising team meetings, both internally and externally.

Working on a variety of projects and facing new encounters is extremely interesting and rewarding. It can be challenging keeping up to speed and learning about specific project terminologies and processes. However, everyone at BearingPoint is incredibly helpful and supportive which is important in developing my career. I have had the opportunity to work closely with very experienced colleagues who have invested time in mentoring me and give regular feedback to help my career progression.

Outside the office

Outside of the office, I play netball and hockey on a weekly basis in London. I also enjoy running and I am hoping to take part in my first marathon next year. I consider my work-life balance fairly good and I try to catch up with my colleagues on a regular basis whether for after work drinks, or attending the monthly sports and social events. I enjoy keeping active and regularly go to the gym or swim before or after work.

Why BearingPoint

The office has a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere which is very important in creating a comfortable working environment. BearingPoint provides a positive workplace and promotes personal development through training and support, allowing me to prosper and grow my career. The people and culture at BearingPoint are one of the key factors in providing a friendly, approachable and innovative team. Everyone at the company wants to help you grow and develop into the best version of yourself, making it a pretty special place to work.
